For the Love of FoodOur Famous Karoo Menu
Our deck bar and restaurant offer guests magnificent views and authentic Karoo Cuisine.
Kuzuko Food is Karoo Food!
At Kuzuko we strive to capture the essence of home style Karoo in our cooking. Karoo cooking is less about food preparation, and more about the quality and freshness of the produce used. At Kuzuko Lodge we mimic the style of cooking our grandmothers used. Age-old Karoo recipes are part of tradition and unique to the Karoo culture - each ingredient having been specially selected.
Most of our produce is sourced locally, as it would be hard to capture the essence of the Karoo with ingredients sourced elsewhere. Local favourites like Karoo lamb, honey roasted sweet potatoes, seared venison, hertzoggies and melktert are a must if for cooking to pass as 'Karoo cuisine'. Throw in a couple of our own creations, like our 'Karoo-krieke' (vanilla fried tiger prawns), or our blushing pears with wine-custard, and you can count on having a pretty good time once the dinner bell rings.
There is something about Karoo food that brings people together, no matter what age, race, gender, culture or nationality they are. This is what we strive to achieve with our food. Each dish we serve should start a conversation with the one next to you and across from you. That, to us, is Karoo cooking at its very best. Our food evokes emotions from and an interaction between our guests. These make for great stories and precious memories.
The Karoo is known for its people and their stories - 'stoepstories' as it is referred to. The people at Kuzuko breathe life into the guests' experience. Yes the facilities are great, and the animals and scenery are magnificent, but it's the people who make for the best memories. They are the ones who add to your story, and that in itself is priceless.
To eat is to live; might as well do it with passion then!
