Getting Here: Easier Than You Think

From Johannesburg

Fly from OR Tambo to Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) in under two hours, with multiple daily flights operated by FlySafair, Airlink and South African Airways. From Gqeberha, Kuzuko is a scenic 2 and half-hour transfer or self-drive through the Eastern Cape landscape, past the Zuurberg Mountains and the magnificent Olifantskop Pass.

Prefer to drive the whole way? It is a long but rewarding 10-hour road trip, best broken into two days if time allows.

From Cape Town

For Capetonians searching for safaris close to Cape Town, Kuzuko is one of the most accessible and rewarding options available. The flight to Gqeberha is just over an hour, and from there it is a scenic 2 and a half-hour transfer to the lodge. Alternatively, the overland route along the N2 Garden Route is a beautiful 8-hour drive that can be enjoyed as part of the journey itself.

From Durban

Durban to Gqeberha is approximately 1 and a half hours by air, with direct flights available. The drive from Durban clocks in at around 12 hours, so flying is the clear winner for a short break.

Once you land, Kuzuko offers airport transfers, or you can hire a car and enjoy the drive in yourself. The last 50km is on a well-maintained dirt road, and we promise the views along the way are more than worth it.

 

What to Expect When You Arrive

Check-in at Kuzuko begins at 2 pm, and you will be collected from our gatehouse reception by safari vehicle and driven to the lodge. From the moment you arrive, the pace slows. Expect a warm welcome, refreshments on the deck, and your first look at the sweeping Karoo panorama that stretches away into the distance from your private chalet.

Your stay includes two guided game drives daily, a full breakfast menu, Karoo high tea, a four-course gourmet dinner, and selected beverages.

 

How to Make the Most of a Long Weekend

Friday afternoon arrival gives you time to settle in and catch the evening game drive at golden hour before a leisurely dinner under the stars.

Saturday is a full day: early morning game drive with a coffee stop out in the bush, a lazy afternoon at the pool or spa, followed by an afternoon drive and sundowner in the bush and later on your private deck.

Sunday brings your final morning game drive before a relaxed breakfast and late check-out at 11 am, leaving you time to linger before heading back to the real world.

If you can stretch to three nights, you can also add on a San rock art cave exploration, a cosmic safari under the extraordinary Karoo night sky, or a cheetah walk for something truly unforgettable.
